CricketSt Johns College wins U-18 Cricket Super-8 Tourney by EditorNovember 23, 2022November 23, 2022015 Share0 Sports Reporter St Johns College were crowned the champions of the Lomagundi Super8 U-18 cricket tournament after cruising to 40-run win over Hellenic at Lomagundi College last week. The tournament made its return to the school’s cricket calendar after a two forced hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Having won the toss St Johns College opted to bat first and went on to set a a target of 141 runs for the loss of a single wicket in their eight allotted overs. With a modest total of 141 runs, needing 142 runs to win from eight overs, the St Johns bowling attack proved to good for Hellenics as they restricted them to 101 runs from 6.3 overs for the loss of seven wickets. The 40-run victor ensured that St Johns were crowned Champions while Hellenic received the silver medal. Visiting Zambian side, the Zambian Alpha Academy finished the tournament on third place. The tournament was attended Director of Cricket at Zimbabwe Cricket Hamilton Masakadza and returning players from the recently held ICC T20 World Cup.
