Reality Check for Mangombe as Chicken Inn End Dynamos’ Unbeaten Run

Game-On Reporter

Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe has admitted his side made life difficult for themselves after their impressive unbeaten streak was snapped by a 2-1 defeat to Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

A first-half brace from Chicken Inn forward Rahim Katinji was enough to end the Glamour Boys’ fine run, leaving Mangombe to reflect on a sluggish start and critical defensive errors that proved to be the visitors’ undoing.

Despite a brief recovery through a Moses Demera equalizer in the first half, the Harare giants were unable to salvage a point in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter.

Mangombe did not hide his frustration regarding the team’s initial approach to the game in a post-match interview.

“It was a difficult game but in the first half we started on a bad note, we were slow in our build-up and we invited our opponents into our own half.

“We made avoidable mistakes in our own half and we conceded from those. We need to improve when we play games like this,” said Mangombe.

While the loss leaves Dynamos looking to regroup, the coach chose to highlight the glimmers of promise from his squad’s overall performance, particularly their attacking intent.

“Overall, there were positives in terms of chances created and equalising, which shows we can also score goals,” Mangombe noted.

The defeat leaves the Glamour Boys aiming to rectify their defensive shortcomings ahead of their next fixture.
