The fourth edition of the Musabvunda half-marathon is poised for a major expansion this year, following the arrival of First Care as the event’s title sponsor.
Now officially rebranded as the First Care Musabvunda Half-Marathon and Family Fun Day, the event will take place this Sunday, May 10, at Blakiston Junior School.
This year’s race is centered on the theme “Running for Wellness.”
The 2026 edition has attracted a significant roster of corporate partners, signaling the event’s growing stature in the local sporting calendar.
Event founder and organizer Kudzai Pasipanodya anticipates the largest field of participants in the event’s history.
“The preparations are going very well, and we are expecting a huge turnout of at least 5,000 participants because the event is a combination of the marathon and a family fun day,” said Pasipanodya.
The event is designed to be inclusive, offering distances for professional athletes, casual joggers.
Beyond the track, the venue will transform into a multi-sport and entertainment hub.
Post-race activities will include power-lifting and snooker tournaments, while a dedicated children’s area will feature jumping castles and various games.
To cap off the festivities, the organizers have secured a lineup of popular local artists to perform.
Headliners include Silent Killer, Voltz TJ, and Baba Harare, promising a festival-like atmosphere that extends well beyond the athletic competition.
