Zimbabwe Cricket has named a 15-man squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Bangladesh, with left-arm fast bowler Richard Ngarava set to captain the national side for the first time in the longest format.
The match gets underway on Sunday at Harare Sports Club, marking Zimbabwe’s return to Test cricket after their emphatic innings-and-73-run victory over Afghanistan at the same venue in October last year.
Ngarava, one of Zimbabwe’s most experienced pace bowlers, was instrumental in that win, claiming a five-wicket haul as the hosts secured one of their most convincing Test victories in recent years.
Ben Curran scored a century in the match, while Brad Evans also starred with a five-wicket haul to help seal the triumph.
Zimbabwe have made several changes to the squad that faced Afghanistan, recalling Innocent Kaia, Graeme Cremer, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere and Newman Nyamhuri following strong performances in domestic and representative cricket.
The hosts will, however, be without key all-rounder Sikandar Raza, who has been granted permission to fulfil his commitments with Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the remainder of the 2026 Vitality Blast campaign in England.
The fixture renews a growing Test rivalry between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, who last met in a two-match series in Bangladesh in April and May last year.
Zimbabwe produced a memorable three-wicket victory in the opening Test to register their first win in the format in four years before Bangladesh responded by winning the second Test to square the series 1-1.
Zimbabwe squad:
Richard Ngarava (captain), Ben Curran, Brian Bennett, Brad Evans, Graeme Cremer, Clive Madande, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere, Newman Nyamhuri, Innocent Kaia.
