Zimbabwean sprinter Makanakaishe Charamba delivered a standout performance on Saturday, winning the men’s 200 metres at the USATF Lone Star Grand Prix in College Station, Texas, with a lifetime best time of 19.88 seconds.

The 2024 Olympic finalist surged to victory in a highly competitive field, becoming the only athlete in the race to break the 20-second barrier.

His winning time marked a personal best and further underlined his growing reputation on the international sprinting circuit.

American high school sensation Tate Taylor finished second in 19.97 seconds, while Canadian veteran Aaron Brown claimed third place in 20.11 seconds.

Charamba’s victory continues a strong run of form for the Zimbabwean star, who reached the Olympic final in Paris last year and has steadily established himself among the world’s leading 200-metre runners.

The performance is expected to boost Charamba’s confidence ahead of a busy international season, as he targets further success against elite competition on the global stage.
