Following the abandonment of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match between Hardrock FC and Dynamos FC, the host club has announced a full-scale investigation.
The fixture was called off prematurely after a pitch invasion sparked severe crowd violence and widespread vandalism at Chahwanda Stadium.
The disturbances resulted in multiple injuries and significant damage to stadium infrastructure, forcing officials to halt the match before its conclusion.
In a formal statement released on Monday, Hardrock FC confirmed the abandonment and strongly condemned the actions of the disruptive fans.
“We strongly condemn the pitch invasion and acts of vandalism that disrupted the game, caused injuries, and damaged stadium property,” the club said.
“Football thrives on passion, but that passion must never compromise the safety of players, officials, supporters, and other stakeholders.”
The club expressed its gratitude to the emergency medical personnel who treated casualties at the venue and extended its sympathies to the victims, wishing them a full and speedy recovery.
While the statement did not specify the exact catalyst for the riot or the full extent of the structural damage to Chahwanda Stadium, Hardrock FC officials confirmed that high-level investigations are already underway.
The club announced it is working closely with law enforcement and league administrators to identify and penalize those responsible for the chaos.
“The club is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities and the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in the ongoing investigations to ensure that those who breached security regulations are held accountable,” Hardrock FC stated.
The Premier Soccer League is expected to release an official statement regarding disciplinary actions, fines, and the ultimate determination of the match outcome in the coming days.
