Charamba, Makarawu headline Zim Squad for African Champs

The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (NAAZ) has loaded a powerhouse 11-athlete squad for the African Senior Championships in Ghana next month.

Zimbabwe’s sprint charge runs May 12 to 17, and the roster is stacked.

The Olympian duo of Makanakaishe Charamba and Tapiwanashe Makarawu, are expected to lead the nation’s charge for podium finishes.

The sprinting duo will compete in the 200m individual event and anchor the 4x100m relay team.

Methembe Tshuma, also US-based, makes the cut for the 400m and joins the 4x400m relay quartet with Gerren Muwishi, Leeford Zuze, and Dennis Hove.

Muwishi, Hove, and Zuze pull double duty as  form the core of the 4×400 team racing at the World Relays in Botswana on May 2 and 3 before heading to Ghana.

Samukeliso Ndebele, 400-meter hurdles national record holder, Ashley Kamangirira, US based, Vimbai Maisvorewa, and Rutendo Vushe will represent the country in the women’s section.
