Boost for Glen View football lovers

THE English Premier League, by far the biggest league in the world in terms of global viewership, returns to the screens this weekend after the conclusion of the FIFA international break.

But, due to persistent electricity power outages being experienced across the country, it will be a hassle for millions of Zimbabweans to watch their favorite teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in action.

Luckily for some residents of Glen View 3 in Harare power outages are a thing of the past as they now rely 24/7 on solar energy.

This has been made possible thanks to a game changing project by Zimbabwe Solar Energy Company (ZISEC), a subsidiary of Prevail Group International (PGI).

The project, which is being run under the Presidential Solar Scheme, was officially launched Thursday morning.

The event was attended by Special Advisor to the President Responsible for Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes, Joram Gumbo.

Residents who spoke to the media during the tour of houses that have benefited from the scheme were over the moon.

“This is a massive project, kuona bhora kuno ku Glen View 3 is not a problem anymore.

“Like now the EPL is back this weekend and we will be watching action from our homes and we are saved from the hassles of going to overcrowded bars,” said Moses Tomu.

Prevail Group International chairman, Paul Tungwarara, explained the essence of the project.

“We are going to generate solar from rooftops and put the electricity into the grid and eradicate load shedding in the specific areas where we are installing the solar system,” he said.

Zimbabwe has been experiencing massive load shedding with some houses going for 18 hours without electricity.
