THE tournament will be held across six cities in the North African country of Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Initially, the 35th edition of the AFCON finals was set for June and July 2025 but the dates clashed with the FIFA Club World Cup, which now has new format.
Seven nations from the Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) have qualified for the AFCON finals.
These are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
West Africa has eight teams – Burkina Faso, Gabon, Nigeria, Benin, Equatorial Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal.
Tanzania and Uganda will represent East Africa.
Hosts Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria and Sudan are from North Africa.
Central Africa will be represented by former champions Cameroon and DR Congo.
Four-time champions, Ghana, have failed to qualify for the biennial showpiece, for the first time in two decades.
