So deep into relegation had Dynamos sunk, that the Harare giants still find themselves in the red zone, even after winning five of their last six games.
Sunday’s 1-0 victory against CAPS United in the Harare Derby, pushed DeMbare to 32 points, but that was not good enough to lift them out of the relegation zone as they have an inferior goal diffrence to Makepekepe, who also have the same number of points.
Dynamos are now 15th on the table, one place below CAPS United.
The win against Makepekepe was DeMbare’s fifth win in their last six outings.
The only time they failed to pick up three points during this period, was when they were held to a goalless draw by Triangle United at Rufaro a fortnight ago.
At Rufaro on Sunday, Dynamos needed a 54th minute goal from Jairos Kasondo to settle the derby that was watched by a bumper crowd.
DeMbare have now raked 16 points out of a possible 18, from their last six games.
It’s an 89 percent success rate for Zambian gaffer Kelvin Kaindu who believes DeMbare’s run under his watch had been miraculous.
Dynamos are by far the most in-form team in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.
“I think it can only be a miracle, honestly,” said Kaindu, who replaced out of sorts Saul Chaminuka in July.
“Looking at the team, at the position where we were and also the number of points that we managed to get in the games that we played.
“I don’t know.”
When Kaindu left Highlanders to join Dynamos, the Harare giants had a paltry 16 points.
They have now doubled that tally in six matches and are now favorites to survive relegation.
The Glamour Boys are 15th, with 32 points, the same as CAPS United and Triangle United going into the last five rounds of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
