Nees to make a decision on Khama

Game On Reporter

Warriors coach Michael Nees will assess Khama Billiat when the star features for Scottland who play CAPS United in a blockbuster league clash at Rufaro Sunday afternoon.

Billiat missed Scottland’s opening match against Triangle United last week through injury.

According to reports from Scottland, the Warriors star forward has recovered and is expected to play some role this afternoon.

Nees will on Wednesday announce an enlarged squad for the two World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria on March 20 and March 25 respectively.

Billiat is one of the local players Nees has been monitoring since the start of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

The German is however worried about the match fitness levels of the local based players.

Injuries to a number of senior players like skipper Marvelous Nakamba and goalkeeper Washington Arubi is something that Nees is grappled with.

“The coach wants to use this weekend to make a final assessment of local players before announcing the squad.

“He is worried about the fitness levels of most of the local guys who are just starting the season,” a source close to the coach said.

Some of the local based players who have been part of the Warriors set up in recent times include Godknows Murwira and Tymon Machope (both Scottland), Emmanuel Jalai (Dynamos), Richard Hachiro (Ngezi Platinum Stars), Brian Banda (FC Platinum) and MWOS keeper Martin Mapisa.

Nonetheless, Nees should be excited with the performances of some of the foreign based players including Tawanda Chirewa who has rediscovered his form at Huddersfield.

Vice captain Marshall Munetsi has also been doing well at Premier League side Wolves, where his is playing a more advanced role.

Munetsi scored his first ever Premier League goal when Wolves played Everton on Saturday night.

“The Warriors coach has also been monitoring Munetsi who has been playing in a more advanced position at his new side Wolves,” the source said.

Jordan Zemura, Andy Rinomhota, Tawanda Maswanhise, Munashe Garan’anga, Teenage Hadebe, Devine Lunga and Prince Dube are some of the foreign based players who will be called in for duty.
