Tough 2027 Rugby World Cup group for Sables

Zimbabwe has been paired with England, Wales and Tonga in the pool stages of the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Zimbabwe will make a return to the global stage after 36-years following their triumphant win over rivals Namibia in the Africa Cup Final played in Uganda in June.

The Sables are in Group F of the pool stages, and have been paired together with 2003 champions England, Six Nation powerhouse side Wales and Tonga.

The draw for the 2027 Rugby World Cup was conducted this morning in Australia.

Sables captain Hilton Mudariki is confident of his charges putting up a fight against at the global competition.

Reacting after the draw, Mudariki said, “We knew any pool would be tough at this level, but to draw two of the most iconic names in world rugby, England and Wales, is an incredible opportunity for our team and for the nation.

“This is the moment we have worked for. We embrace the challenge of Pool F and look forward to showing the world the potential of Zimbabwean rugby.

“Every match will be a final for us, and the goal remains to advance in the expanded 24-team format.”
