Zim duo makes ex-PSL star’s Dream Team

Game On Reporter

A former South African Premiership star has named two Zimbabwean players Elvis Chipezeze and Talent Chawapiwa in his Dream Team.

Former Baroka FC and Jomo Cosmos defender Ananias Gebnhardt shared with KickOff the 10 best players he played with in the South African top flight.

The Namibian played alongside Chipezeze and Chawapiwa at Baroka FC.

Chipezeze is now turning out for Magesi while Chawapiwa in back in Zimbabwe.

Formation: 4-3-3

“We are attacking, we are going all guns blazing. And versatile and got creativity.”

Goalkeeper: Elvis Chipezeze

“Chipezeze is a top, top showstopper and usually makes amazing saves. A crucial save that will leave you asking ‘How did that man get to that ball?’ He is not the tallest of goalkeepers, but his quick feet make up for that. He is not really the best when it comes to playing from the back, but you don’t want a goalkeeper who will be a number 10, but that’s the unnecessary thing of modern football.”

RB: Tebogo Makopela

“I played with him at Jomo Cosmos. Very hardworking, going up and down that right flank. He is a typical Cosmos player. Good distributor of the ball. He is a modern right-back.”

LB: Ananias Gebhardt

“I will put myself on the left. My qualities are going up and down all day. Aerially, I could sneak in with a goal as well.”

CB: Denwin Farmer & Thato Lingwati

“Farmer will be my left center back and Thato will be my right center back. I played with Farmer at Baroka and Lingwati at Cosmos. Both of them are really tough tacklers. They can handle the primary job of a defender.”

CM: Denzel Haoseb

“He will be my number six. We played together at Cosmos. A very good player. A Rolls Royce of a player. Top player.”

RM: Linda Mntambo

“I played with him at Cosmos. A very good box-to-box player. He is one of those players you know he’s gonna arrive at the right time and at the right moment in the box. When you are out of position, he will cover for you at all times. He is good on the ball and on assists.”

LM: Sydney Malivha

“Very hardworking, got a special left foot. Set-piece specialist, he can go box to box.”

RW: Tebogo Tlolane

“He is left-footed but that’s where I will put him. His nickname is Messiah. One-on-one, he is gonna skin you. That’s why he doesn’t even find it hard to play as a left-back. He’s got the engine. He needs to be given enough game time so that he can reach full momentum.”

Striker: Evidence Makgopa

“It’s definitely Evidence Makgopa. I don’t know how people doubt that boy, that boy’s got goals; if he doesn’t score, he assists. The work of the balls that he puts in makes those opposition defenders not get a rest because he presses them the whole day. And he’s got the specialty in attacking the near post. He scores a lot from the near post. He is a top-quality striker. He is not in Bafana Bafana by any fluke.”

LW: Talent Chawapiwa

“He is back in Zim. You will chase the guy all day. When we won the Telkom with Baroka, coach Pitso said Talent Chawapiwa cheats; he doesn’t go back to defend. He is waiting for the ball from the center line. That’s Talent Chawapiwa for you.”

Who is the coach?

“I will give it to Wedson Nyirenda. He loved the 4-3-3 formation. He was a big fan of running football, forward football. Total football actually.”
