Sanyatwe humbled by Mnangagwa’s decision

NEWLY appointed Minister of Sport, Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, was sworn in Thursday morning and immediately described his appointment as a special recognition from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Sanyatwe was relieved from his post as Zimbabwe National Army commander and replacing Kirsty Coventry who is now the new president of the International Olympic Committee.

Sanyatwe was sworn in at State House Thursday morning.

Among those who attended the ceremony include the two Vice Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.

Deputy Minister of Sport, Emily Jesaya, also witnessed the ceremony.

“Allow me to thank His Excellency, the President of Zimbabwe, Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces to appoint me to be his Minister in the Ministry of Recreation, Arts, Recreation and Culture.

“It is indeed a great honour, a special recognition, from His Excellency,” said Sanyatwe.

The former army commander said he was humbled with President Mnangagwa’s confidence in his capabilities.

“In essence, sports, arts and culture are very strong tools for national unity, youth empowerment,” said Sanyatwe.
