…Amid growing calls for Maunganidze to leave

AT the end of the 2023 season, Dynamos had more than US$200 000 in their coffers.
They had also won their maiden Chibuku Super Cup and also managed to retain a number of key players including Donald Mudadi, Emmanuel Jalai, Frank Makarati, Emmanuel Paga and Issa Sadiki.
Sadly, things have deteriorated at the once glamorous club since then.
Whereas they began 2024 with a fat bank balance, DeMbare have gone bankrupt, ahead of the 2025 season which kicks off in a fortnight.
Dynamos have no cent in their account and their coach Lloyd Chigowe has been struggling to motivate the players ahead of Saturday’s Castle Challenge Cup fixture against Simba Bhora.
Players are still owed January salaries, 19 days into the month of February.
Winning bonuses for a couple of last season’s games are yet to be settled.
Most players are still owed their signing on fees.
So dire is the situation at Dynamos that the club’s executive failed to provide decent food for the players when the Mbare side played Hunters in a friendly match at Rudhaka in Marondera last Sunday.
Game-On also has it on good authority that Dynamos failed to pay X-Ray fees for a player who was injured in a practice match against Hardrock in Kwekwe last week.
“Some of us are losing patience with this current executive, they keep taking players for granted,” one player lamented.
DeMbare’s partnership with Sakunda Holdings is hanging in the balance and the energy giant has remained mum on the future.
There has been speculation that those who call the shots at Sakunda Holdings want a change of leadership at Dynamos before committing more funds.
Moses Maunganidze is the current executive chairman and leads a committee that has dinosaurs like Webster Marechera.
Game-On has been told that Dynamos are negotiating with a potential sponsor but the financial entity is worried about persistent bad publicity that follows DeMbare.
About 10 days ago, players downed their tools in protest over outstanding January salaries.
The situation is still to be solved.
“As a result of poor management the club lost a couple of players.
“They delayed in confirming Chigowe as the substantive coach and when the coach submitted his wish list the club had no money to buy players.
“As a result Chigowe had to rely on trials,” a source within Dynamos said.
A number of players including 2022 Soccer Star of the Year runner up Donald Mudadi and rising star Emmanuel Ziocha left DeMbare at the end of last season.
The Moyo twins Elvis and Kevin also dumped the Harare giants while the likes of Paga, Sadiki and Namibian Sadyney Urikhob have also left.
It is against this background that Dynamos host Simba Bhora in the Challenge Cup at Rufaro on Saturday.
“Should Dynamos win, mark my words the executive members will be at the forefront claiming all the glory yet they are doing nothing to improve player welfare,” another disgruntled player said.
There have been growing calls for club owner Bernard Marriot to crack the whip on Maunganidze’s executive, which has been bungling at any given time.
