Scottland FC owner, Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya is reported to have backed down from his initial promise to award players US$ 10 000 each for winning the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League championship.

In a mid-air somersault, Sakupwanya has now reportedly cut down his promise by half.

The players were on Monday instructed to open bank accounts with a local bank with the money expected to be deposited into their accounts starting Tuesday.

The players are now set to receive US$ 5 000 each from the flamboyant businessman and politician.

Sources at the club who confided with Game-On revealed that Sakupwanya told players that he was not in a position to award them more money than what the Warriors received from President Mnangagwa after qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco next December.

“He told the players that after the Warriors received US$ 6 500 from Government he cannot award his players more than that as it will send a wrong message .

He instead said that he will now give the players US$ 5 000 each for winning the Division One League title,” said the source.

In another turn of events at the club, Toyota Aqua vehicles that were promised to players are now set to be given to selected players with the rest of the cars set to be used company vehicles.

“Not all the players will receive the vehicles, but instead a selected set of players will be given the cars to be their own while the remaining cars are set to be given to incoming players and will remain property of the club,” said the source.
