FOLLOWING the amendment of the ZIFA Constitution, the new Executive Committee (ExCo) will be made up of 11 members, comprising of at least three women.
The ExCo will have one president and two vice presidents, one of which shall be a female, with six ordinary members set to be voted for.
Two ex officio members, representing the Premier Soccer League elected by the Premier Soccer League and Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League elected by the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League will complete the 11-member ExCo.
Members of the Executive Committee are required to be citizens and residents of Zimbabwe.
By the time of the election, which has been tentatively set for January 18, 2025, those willing to contest must have resided in the country for a period of two years prior.
All members of the Executive Committee shall have already been active in football for at least five years within the last 10 years and shall fulfil the prerequisites stipulated in article. 24 par. 8 of these Statutes.
Requirements for Zifa President
According to the new statutes: “The President and the two Vice Presidents of the Executive Committee shall have passed a minimum of five O-Levels subjects (Education level) or any equivalent educational level.
“For one to be eligible to be voted as the President of the Executive committee, one must be of the age of 40 years and above.”
For the election of the President and the two Vice Presidents of the Executive Committee, the successful candidates must obtain 50% plus 1 (one) vote to be declared the winner.
Requirements for Executive Committee Position
A member of the Executive Committee may not at the same time be a member of an independent committee and may not be appointed/elected as a delegate representing a Member at the Congress.
If a position or up to 50% of the positions of the Executive Committee become vacant, the Executive Committee shall fill the position(s) in question until the next Congress, when replacement(s) for the position(s) will be elected for the remaining period of office.
