Zim U-21 Hockey team seal World Cup berth

Zimbabwe’s under-21 Women’s hockey team qualified for the Junior World Cup to be hosted in Santiago, Chile in December on Wednesday.

The Zimbabwe under-21 ladies team beat Kenya 7-0 at the ongoing Junior Africa Cup in Ismailia, Egypt on Wednesday to book a place at the global showcase.

Wednesday qualification will the junior ladies national team appearing at the World Cup for the third consecutive time.

Zimbabwe will be joined by South Africa as the continents representatives at the global showcase which is slated for December 6-17 in Chile.

The Zimbabwe ladies went into their final group game needing nothing short of a win as they were tied with the hosts Egypt on points, and a superior goal difference separating the two.

Zimbabwe ladies team only suffered a single 3-0 defeat in their opener against South Africa before they managed to make a comeback, defeating the hosts, Egypt 4- 0 in their second encounter on Monday.
