Pool Minders Training On The Cards

Sports Reporter

A Harare based firm “The Poolman” is set to conduct a pool minders training on Friday (24 February) in a bid to minimise dangers around the pool.

Precious lives are lost every year due to negligence and lack of knowledge on rescue methods.

The training will focus on pool maintenance, basic first aid techniques and safety precautions around the pool area.

In an interview, with the firm’s Chief Operating Officer Mr Pritchard Mauya said the training will equip minders with valuable information on pool safety and maintenance.

“They are so many accidents and incidents that take place on the pool and in the pool that are preventable due to lack of knowledge and right skills.

“On the background of that, we have decided to do this training.

“For instance incorrect application of chemicals like chlorine, too much of it affect eyes”, said Mabuya.

Swimming account for a great number of drowning cases in this country.

“Apart from learning pool maintenance techniques, they will be taught about various dry rescue methods.

“And basic first aid tips in case of an emergency before professional help arrives”.

Participants will be given certificates upon completion of the theory and practical lessons.

The training will be presided by certified life saver personnel.

Safety around the pool area is vital and minders should know how to manage that area added Mauya.

The training is set to be attended by schools, individuals, private and government institutions.
